About two crore surgeries (which require hospitalisation and general anaesthesia) were conducted in the financial year 2019-20, and C-section was the most performed surgery, the report found. “Data for the study, which was done by Praxis Global Alliance, a consultancy firm, was collected from publicly available information on the ministry of health and family welfare, World Bank, doctor interviews and PGA Labs.”
