A big basket at a low price: how the tatas got an amazingly sweet deal

The long-drawn affair of Tata’s acquisition of Bigbasket concluded by the end of last month. Tata Group’s e-commerce ambitions took wing with the buyout of one of India’s most solid consumer-Internet startups, which is also a category leader in grocery e-tail. As for Bigbasket, it got a parent which has the resources to help it go for a bigger play. Neither company has revealed the details of the deal.
