While speaking to Mint, Ram Soni, Partner, Food and Agriculture said  “India’s petcare market is entering a high-growth phase, with the pet population expanding at 9–10% annually and the overall market projected to grow from $3.5 billion in 2024 to $7 billion by 2028. This demand-led expansion is accelerating the rise of organized veterinary care; however, the sector continues to face structural challenges. India produces around 4,000–5,000 veterinary graduates each year, but only a small proportion enter companion animal practice, leading to a shortage of specialized talent. Additionally, veterinary services remain highly dependent on individual practitioner reputation, making standardization across clinics difficult. Low pet insurance penetration—currently under 1%—further limits affordability and access to advanced treatments.”
